Job Description
We have phenomenal opportunities for experienced, part-time Principal Mechanical Design Engineers to work across all areas of our Product Life Cycles, from Mechanical Future Concepts, detailed Design and Qualification to Production and In-service Support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead mechanical design work packages across various product stages (Concept, Design, Qualification, Production, and In-service Support)
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver world-class mechanical solutions for complex weapons and weapon systems
• Contribute to the development of mechanical solutions and tackle exciting challenges within the product lifecycle
• Provide leadership for mechanical design work, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards
• Engage in proving and qualification activities to ensure designs meet the required specifications
The successful candidate will have:
• Degree/HND/HNC qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in Mechanical Design and Development, ideally in areas like Mechanisms, Structures, Assembly and Integration, and Concept down selection
• Ability to lead mechanical design work packages and navigate the challenges of multi-disciplinary teamwork
• Experience in the full product lifecycle (CADMID) and awareness of qualification activities
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders
