Role

  • Ensuring an understanding of project briefs; design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
  • Preparation and review of documentation such as designs, specifications, assessment reports, and survey reports.
  • Carrying out (and managing others in) the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, CAD, IES, and in-house developed tools.
  • Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
  • Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish the status of existing installations and gather information to propose new or upgraded design solutions.
  • Assisting with the development of junior engineers.
  • Report and technical note writing.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ideally chartered or working towards chartership with CIBSE or IET.
  • 5–10 years of experience in a design consultancy or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
  • Good report writing skills, with experience presenting to and attending meetings with clients.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant technical standards; able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, and act on own initiative.
  • Good computer literacy with tools such as IES thermal modelling, Microsoft Office, CAD.
