Job title: Principal Mechanical Engineer – Marine Engineering

Location: Portsmouth – Onsite only

Salary: Up to 58,500 (dependent on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

• Providing oversight and assurance on behalf of the MOD customer for Warship Maintenance and upgrades through-life.
• Assisting in the production of estimates, creating and/or assisting in the production of design requirement specifications.
• Undertaking functional design and/or providing qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety.
• Developing, promoting, and sharing new technologies for implementation across businesses and programmes.
• Acting as an engineering, technical or design authority for a sub-system.
• Providing technical leadership and guidance on matters relating to a discipline, including occasional team leadership and line management responsibilities.

Your skills and experiences:

• Experienced professional engineer with sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge, working towards Chartership.
• Understanding and experience in a wide range of Mechanical engineering activities.
• Sufficient technical knowledge/experience to make sound engineering decisions in all technical areas, seeking support from specialists when necessary.
• Experience in systems such as Auxiliary systems (including HVAC, Fuel Systems, Gas Turbine Services, etc.), Safety systems, and others as listed.

The Warship Technical Authority team:

This role involves governance and oversight of engineering decisions affecting the T45 platform, ensuring design integrity and safety, and presenting assurance evidence to the Warship Approving Authority.
