We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role\n\nSalary: Negotiable dependent on experience\n\nWhat you’ll be doing:\n\nDevelop design solutions to meet agreed time, cost, and quality targets\n\nDefine and manage requirements, acceptance criteria, and performance activities to meet contractual obligations\n\nSupport design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning activities to meet contractual obligations\n\nProduce technical documentation, diagrams, specifications, calculations, and design justifications for reviews\n\nEnsure compliance with safety, environmental, contractual, and company standards\n\nLead or contribute to design reviews, customer presentations, and supplier acceptance activities\n\nReview and manager supplier documentation, ensuring accurate capture and record-keeping\n\nSupport bids, proposals, project planning, and Certificate of Design activities with clear technical input\n\nYour skills and experiences:\n\nEssential:\n\nTechnical report writing skills\n\nDemonstrable experience in the delivery of mechanical systems through the development lifecycle\n\nComprehensive experience of applying technical expertise across the full engineering lifecycle\n\nIn-depth knowledge and experience specifying mechanical equipment and components (hydraulic systems, winch equipment, heat exchangers, electric motor driven systems etc)\n\nDesirable:\n\nBEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent in a relevant STEM degree\n\nCEng or capable of achieving CEng\n\nBenefits:\n\nAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.\n\nThe Combat System Team:\n\nAs a Principal Engineer, you will be working on an innovative new submarine engineering programme, you’ll be tackling projects never attempted before. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of submarine Combat System subsystems, gaining experience with a broad and diverse range of technologies.
