We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the South West and Midlands. This role can be based at a number of locations, including Bristol, Cardiff or Exeter in the South West or Birmingham, Derby or Redditch in the Midlands.

You will be involved in the full project life cycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations. This will mean leading mechanical design for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations and more. You will work closely with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to deliver positive project outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects in the water sector (e.g., water/wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations).
  • Manage the full project life cycle from feasibility and optioneering to detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to deliver project outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers within the team.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related subject; ideally Chartered status or working toward.
  • Experience in detailed design within the water industry; experience with delivery contractors is beneficial.
