Principal Mechanical Engineer - Water Sector

This role can be based at locations including Bristol, Cardiff or Exeter in the South West, or Birmingham, Derby or Redditch in the Midlands. You will be involved in the full project life cycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations. You will lead mechanical design for infrastructure & non-infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations & more. You will work closely with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to deliver positive project outcomes, and you will mentor and guide more junior engineers within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for water sector projects (infrastructure & non-infrastructure).
  • Manage the full project lifecycle from feasibility to construction support.
  • Contribute to site surveys and investigations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, clients, supply chain partners, contractors and planners to deliver outcomes.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers within the team.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject; Chartered status or active toward it preferred.
  • Experience in detailed design within the water industry; experience with delivery contractors beneficial.
