Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a passion for creating sustainable solutions? Join Stantec and help us tackle our communities' urgent climate, environmental, and efficiency challenges!
We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join us in our office in Leeds or Cambridge. With hybrid working allowing for a combination of in-office and home working, this role would suit an experienced Mechanical Engineer who wants to take their next step in their career within an industry-leading consultancy by working on exciting projects in the water sector.
Across Stantec, we are building on a highly successful period of growth. We enable the delivery of sustainable development and infrastructure projects that adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change. Most importantly, you will embody and support our values of client focus, designing with community in mind, collaboration and service excellence.

- Provide engineering input to design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, Control Philosophies, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Produce and review technical outputs such as technical specifications and reports, sizing and designing pumping systems and water systems, and schedules.
- Deliver construction and commissioning services and participate in collaborative design reviews, including technical workshops and safety reviews (HAZOPs and ALMs).
- Lead technical leadership for the Flood and Coastal Mechanical team and support the development of junior engineers.
- Assess existing site infrastructure to develop and deliver mechanical designs for lowland drainage pumping stations; understand implications of the Eel Regulations 2009.
About You

- Strong communication skills with ability to deliver technical presentations to clients and design engineers; able to contribute to collaborative design discussions and workshops.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and development support to junior engineers.
- Understanding of how lowland drainage pumping stations operate and experience assessing existing site infrastructure to deliver mechanical design; awareness of Eel Regulations 2009.
- Interest in the energy, infrastructure & water sectors within a mechanical engineering capacity.
