Venn Group is proud to be working in exclusive partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) to recruit a Principal Engineer for Medical Gas, Asbestos & Lifts—a pivotal leadership role at one of the world’s most renowned paediatric hospitals.

This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking Estates team at GOSH, where innovation, safety, and excellence in engineering directly support life-changing care for children and young people. As Principal Engineer, you’ll lead the coordination of Authorised Persons (APs), drive compliance across critical systems, and shape the future of the hospital’s infrastructure.

You’ll be responsible for overseeing safe systems of work across mechanical, electrical, and fabric disciplines, with a particular focus on ventilation, confined spaces, and working at height. Your technical expertise will guide the Trust’s approach to medical gas, lift systems, and asbestos management, ensuring resilience and regulatory excellence.

This role sits at the heart of strategic estates planning, contributing to capital upgrades, long-term infrastructure development, and the Trust’s Net Zero ambitions. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, external auditors, and clinical teams to deliver robust engineering governance and sustainable solutions.

What makes this role stand out?

  • Join a world-class institution with a culture of inclusion, innovation, and impact
  • Lead a high-performing team and shape engineering standards across the Trust
  • Influence strategic decisions and contribute to major capital projects
  • Be part of a hospital that’s redefining paediatric care through cutting-edge research and infrastructure

What you’ll bring:

  • Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) status or equivalent experience
  • Deep knowledge of HTM standards and healthcare engineering systems
  • Proven leadership in estates or engineering within complex environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and project delivery skills

At GOSH, engineering isn’t just about buildings—it’s about creating safe, efficient spaces where extraordinary care happens every day. If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact in a role that blends technical mastery with strategic vision, we’d love to hear from you.
