The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy, working on challenging projects that demand innovation and precision. This is a key role where you’ll take ownership of mechanical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle.
We would also welcome applications from these industries: nuclear, defence, oil & gas, chemical processing, or pharmaceutical.
This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Senior Mechanical Engineer, Lead Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Handling Engineer, Project Engineer, Engineering Team Lead, Mechanical Systems Engineer, Plant Design Engineer, Mechanical Consultant, or Technical Authority.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Lead and deliver mechanical engineering studies, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Oversee the development of designs from early concept through detailed engineering, including review of supplier documentation.
Produce and approve key technical deliverables such as reports, flow diagrams, P&IDs, and layout drawings.
Provide technical guidance to resolve queries and maintain alignment with design intent throughout the supply chain.
Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.You will have the following qualifications and experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with significant post-graduate experience.
Chartered status (IMechE or similar) or working towards it.
Proven track record in delivering mechanical design within highly regulated sectors.
Strong understanding of mechanical handling systems or process technologies.
Excellent communication skills and ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.Get in touch now
