Overview

Principal Nuclear Safety Case Engineer role at AECOM, Warrington, United Kingdom. This position offers the chance to participate in multi-disciplinary projects across the lifecycle, from client consultancy to turnkey solutions. You will lead a team, interact directly with clients, partners, and contractors, and oversee projects from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management: support management across the nuclear portfolio (Civil and Defence), help grow the nuclear safety case capability, develop resource strategies, recruitment plans, maintain resource competence (SQEP), and manage the nuclear safety case team (including deputising for the Nuclear Safety Case Discipline Lead as required).
  • Technical Delivery: act as a subject matter expert for winning work and bidding on nuclear safety, lead strategic safety case delivery on projects, build client relationships for a right-first-time technical delivery, advise leadership and clients on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance, and support interactions with regulators and safety committees.
  • Development and Knowledge Sharing: provide mentoring and coaching for the nuclear safety case team, manage development and delivery of nuclear safety training for internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to multidisciplinary knowledge sharing; stay informed of new developments affecting the organization to recommend changes in approach and best practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience: extensive experience developing nuclear safety cases in the nuclear sector.
  • Leadership: strong leadership with the ability to provide strategic advice and influence engineers in defining, implementing, and completing engineering work packages.
  • Project Delivery: proven track record of successful project delivery across the full project lifecycle.
  • Communication: ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations and conduct peer reviews of technical documents.
  • Education & Membership: MEng/BEng in a science or engineering subject (or equivalent); Chartered Engineer in a relevant discipline (or working towards).
