Overview

Principal Onshore Pipeline Engineer responsible for leading the production of engineering deliverables and providing progress reporting for a project in accordance with the project plan. Typically acts as a Lead Pipeline Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager on feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design or EPC projects. Supervising and checking the work of other engineers and communicating technical or project issues potentially impacting the project to the Engineering and Project Manager. This role follows a hybrid working model with four days per week in the Woking office to support a strong team dynamic within Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Technically responsible for Pipeline scope and allocating, supervising and directing preparation of project deliverables. Subject to project size, will delegate some level of supervision and specific checking activities to appropriate competent personnel.
  • Lead a team to deliver Pipeline FEED studies; supervise, review and check the pipeline activities including: Philosophies, Specifications, Routing Studies, Mechanical Design, Material Selection, Corrosion Protection, Stress Analysis, Layouts, Drawings, Datasheets and Technical Requisitions & Bid Evaluations.
  • Prepare the Pipelines Deliverables Register and allocate tasks across the pipelines project team. Plan/schedule the pipeline engineering activities and resources. Quantify the total number of engineering deliverables, resource-hour allocation and format of delivery, and other requirements for execution of the work. Provide regular project controls / reporting input to Project Management.
  • Supervise and check the work of other engineers.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from the original proposal / contract under the supervision of the lead / principal engineer.
  • Contribute to successful proposals and tenders, including reviewing ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, preparing resource hour estimates and writing technical proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with Kent’s ISO accredited QMS, and project specific procedures, guides and standards.
  • In consultation with allocated Group Manager and/or Pipelines TA/SME, identify development needs and ensure agreed development goals are met taking due cognisance of project commitments.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience

  • Typically holds a Master’s Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Naval Architecture or similar engineering discipline.
  • Chartered status preferred.
  • Exposure to FEED / detailed design and EPC projects.
  • Strong experience of working for engineering / client organizations in the onshore / offshore oil and gas industry.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of subsea and pipeline engineering, and of regulatory frameworks, codes, and standards.
  • Experience in design and analysis of CO2 and H2 onshore and offshore pipelines in the Low Carbon sector is considered advantageous.

Communication

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
