OverviewSenior Mechanical Engineer – Energy Transition Team. Location is flexible across our UK office network. We are seeking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of mechanical designs on a wide range of transmission projects, including natural gas at below and above 7 bar, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, LNG terminals, and biogas. There is also opportunity to work on projects within the wider energy portfolio, including conventional power plants, energy-from-waste plants, industrial facilities and carbon capture schemes.Our UK Energy Transition team provides services to clients from initial inception through development and construction to operation and decommissioning, supporting the entire lifecycle of a project. We work with private developers, power utilities, government bodies, banks, lending agencies, contractors and OEMs to deliver projects safely while meeting and exceeding client expectations.

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Energy Transition Team, leading mechanical design efforts on transmission projects and related energy systems. The role requires experience with a wide range of technologies and delivery stages, and the ability to work within a larger engineering group.
A Typical Week Would Include
Working with the project team to develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems and create practical designs.
Engaging on projects at varying maturity stages, including feasibility, concept design, FEED studies, value engineering and detailed design, with potential site work during development, construction and commissioning.
Preparation of Pipeline deliverables and Above Ground Installations (e.g., wall thickness calculations, piping specifications).
Undertaking pipeline routing and population studies.
Collaborating with other engineering disciplines to develop designs.
Supporting development of layouts and 3D models.
Developing proposals and bids for the piping and layout discipline and contributing to multi-disciplinary proposals.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/Ceng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
Work experience within the gas industry.
Ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of pipeline and AGI engineering deliverables.
Knowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the industry covering design and manufacturing requirements of plant equipment and piping.
Experience in carrying out pipeline and AGI design.
Experience working in a multi-discipline team on plant 3D models.
Understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts, and calculations.
Experience in operational and integrity issue troubleshooting and problem solving.
Familiarity with Autodesk products (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, BIM360).
Proficiency in MS Office for creating technical reports, specifications, schedules and calculations.
Experience of working with clients and contractors with diverse objectives to achieve a technical solution.
