Job Description Principle Pipeline Engineer

Leading the pipeline engineering effort across Costain's front end, detailed design through to construction and commissioning projects.

This role is based 3 days a week in Manchester.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the technical content, solutions, and delivery of pipeline engineering activities and deliverables on projects, including budgets and deadlines.
• Checking and approving design work in accordance with company procedures.
• Coordinating with other disciplines as required.
• Preparing pipeline engineering estimates, MDRs, and schedules.
• Ensuring activities comply with legal and organizational responsibilities regarding health, safety, sustainability, and environmental issues.
• Planning for resources and monitoring design progress aligned with the project schedule and hours spent against earned value.
• Cascading information on organizational performance, policies, and procedures; reporting feedback and recommendations for improvements.
• Providing advice, support, training, and feedback to colleagues and subordinates; setting objectives and assisting in personal and career development.

Qualifications

• A degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent in Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer and/or 10 years' experience in pipeline engineering.
• Experience in designing onshore and subsea pipeline systems from concept to commissioning.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., PD8010, IGEM-TD1, DNV), including pipeline routing and mechanical design.
• Preparation of pipeline specifications, datasheets, crossing details, alignment sheets, and lay/jointing/backfill requirements.
• Proficiency with modern GIS software packages.
• Ground bearing analysis and proximity assessments.
• Understanding of CDM Principal Designer roles and UKCA marking requirements.
• Awareness of risk management and HSE requirements.
• Experience in designing CO2/H2 pipelines.
