We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role\n\nSalary: Competitive\n\nWhat you’ll be doing:\n\nAttending and reporting to Daily Stand Up Meetings (DSUM)\n\nDesign activities including;\n\n– Holding requirement elicitation workshops\n\n– Applying Product Safety Recognised Good Practice (e.g. IEC 61508, RTCA DO 178C etc.)\n\n– Coordinating and undertaking analysis (Hazard identification, Analysis and Assessment)\n\n– Risk reduction activities (reducing risk ALARP)\n\n– Defining suitable design options and analysing options\n\nApplying a systems engineering approach to safety products including Working within a centralised modelling tool\n\nTechnically leading and coordination a small safety team as required\n\nPreparing safety assessments as required to support system design and development\n\nPreparation of Design Safety Justification supporting inputs\n\nProviding Safety SME to product design and gate reviews\n\nGoverning and assuring parts of the organisation\n\nSupporting the development and maintenance of a healthy product Safety Culture within the team and wider business\n\nYour skills and experiences:\n\nEssential:\n\nFamiliarity with UK Defence Standard and publications such as Defence Standard 00-56, Defence Standard 00-55, DSA-01, DSA-02\n\nGood working knowledge of safety analysis techniques such as:\n\n– Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA)\n\n– Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)\n\n– Event Tree Analysis (ETA)\n\n– Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)\n\n– System Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA)\n\nSTEM degree with Product Safety experience within a regulated industry\n\nGood working knowledge of the requirements of IEC 61508 and/or IEC 61511 for complex Software and Hardware Safety Instrumented Systems\n\nDesirable:\n\nExperience of model-based Systems Engineering\n\nChartered Engineer status or working toward chartership\n\nExperience within the Defence Industry\n\nFamiliarity with Cyber-Safety concepts\n\nExperience of development of complex Systems of Systems (SoS)\n\nKnowledge of Safety standards and practices outside of the Defence domain such as Civil Aerospace, Rail, Oil & Gas or other Process Industries \n\nBenefits:\n\nYou’ll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan.

You will bring an experience of using different analysis techniques with a broad understanding of how to apply these techniques to different standards. You will influence areas of design with other engineers in the team to ensure a holistic solution.
