Job Title: Principal Product Safety Engineer

Salary: Circa £70,000 depending on qualifications and experience

\n

\n

What you’ll be doing:

\n

\n Providing support to the Function TA teams with the management of the hazards, risks and associated mitigations and contribute to the development of the hazard log and the maturity of information contained within \n

Responsible for product safety strategy/argument assessment against major subsystems or key complex technologies \n

Production of high-quality submissions including Hazard Log, safety cases and safety plans \n

Organising and facilitate HAZIDs and review meetings and contribute to other HAZIDs when required \n

Working with the Technical Authority teams and embedded Safety Engineers in collating adequate Product safety related evidence to support the safety case argument and acceptance via the Requirements and Acceptance Team \n

\n

Your skills and experiences:

\n

Essential:

\n

\n Knowledge of safety management processes and techniques \n

Experience of working in more than one phase of the Engineering Lifecycle, with sufficient experience of design principles to enable a good understanding of adjacent phases and through life engineering issues \n

Awareness of customer standards such as: DSA-02, JSP430, DefStan 00-56, MilStn 882E, BS EN 61508 \n

Familiar with the principle of a Safety Management System \n

Experienced in writing technical documentation to an elevated level \n

\n

Desirable:

\n

\n Experience in Product Safety within Software Systems \n

Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science, or IT related discipline \n

Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution \n

The Combat Systems Team:

The Combat System is the heart of any platform, and being part of integrating these complex systems safely through design and assurance is the role of the Product Safety team. Working independently and collaboratively with a like-minded Product Safety Engineers, you will be critical in underpinning the integrity of cutting-edge technology from design concept through to disposal. As a valued stakeholder working alongside Design Technical Authorities, you will play a pivotal role challenging the norm as well of bringing new ideas to the table across a varied and ever-changing portfolio of Combat System projects.
