As a Principal Safety Case Engineer, you will take ownership of safety case strategies across a portfolio of complex projects, helping to shape hazard management approaches and ensuring industry-leading standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Developing hazard management strategies and contributing to HAZID/HAZOP studies
  • Authoring radiological safety assessments, including Hazard Management Strategies and Safety Reports (PSRs, PCSRs, etc.)
  • Producing and reviewing calculations, design basis documentation, and technical reports
  • Managing delivery of safety case work via supply chain partners, ensuring schedule, cost, quality, and risk targets are met
  • Providing oversight of technical strategies, promoting best practice across projects
  • Mentoring and coaching Safety Case Engineers within the team

Qualifications and Experience

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
  • Degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Significant demonstrable experience in developing nuclear safety cases across a range of project complexities
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Previous experience coaching or mentoring junior engineers

It's great if you also have the following experience:

  • Experience working within both defence and civil nuclear environments
  • A track record of leading safety case strategies across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with managing supply chain delivery in highly regulated environments

The setting for the role: The role is based at either Warrington or Bristol with flexible hybrid working. You'll work a 37-hour week in a collaborative environment that supports work-life balance, career progression, and professional development.
