Chroma Recruitment is partnering with a prominent high street retailer who is looking for a Principal Engineer to join their team. Offering up to £110K with excellent benefits and hybrid working (2/3 days a week in their Manchester office).

The company is a well-known retailer with hundreds of shops across the UK, France and the USA. They are evolving from a traditional retailer into a customer-centric, digitally driven business, and are driving forward innovation through meaningful data insights.

Responsibilities

  • Take a leading role in shaping their technology landscape as a Principal Engineer.
  • Spend about 70% of time hands-on, building slick web apps and scalable back-end microservices.
  • Spend about 30% leading a small team, mentoring, supporting, and helping shape tech direction.
  • Play a big part in decision-making, working closely with other senior engineers to design smart solutions that are built to last.

Key Skills

  • Solid full-stack skills — ideally with Node.js, React, TypeScript, and Next.js
  • Experience building and scaling cloud-based microservices
  • A confident decision-maker with a passion for tackling complex technical challenges
