Overview

A respected multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Bangor, North Wales. This role leads a variety of projects from domestic alterations and extensions to complex commercial developments. You will be involved from concept through to completion, ensuring designs are safe, efficient, and delivered to the highest standards. There is flexibility to work from their offices in a countryside location or in a hybrid arrangement, combining career progression with lifestyle balance.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out structural design calculations in steel, concrete, timber and masonry (BS & Eurocodes).
  • Manage design delivery in line with QMS procedures and design checking protocols.
  • Lead smaller projects independently or support larger multi-disciplinary schemes.
  • Work closely with clients, architects, contractors and internal teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Supervise site investigations and undertake structural inspections.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
  • Prepare fee proposals, tenders, and contribute to business development.
  • Ensure commercial delivery of projects against deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 5-7+ years' consultancy experience within the UK market.
  • Chartered or actively working towards Chartered status (ICE / IStructE).
  • Proficient in design software such as Tekla, CADS, Tedds (AutoCAD desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
