OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership and coordination across multi-disciplinary engineering teams. The Principal Engineer will ensure engineering excellence throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept development to detailed design, fabrication, and installation. This role drives innovation, optimises designs, and ensures compliance with industry standards while delivering high-quality and cost-effective solutions.ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership & Project ExecutionServe as subject matter expert for structural engineering.Deliver technically correct engineering deliverables across multiple EPCI projects.Support development of specifications, calculations, drawings, and reports.Approve engineering deliverables to support quality assurance.Conduct design reviews and ensure designs are optimised for fabrication and installation.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines (e.g. ASME, ISO, DNV, API, Eurocodes).Multi-Disciplinary CoordinationInterface between procurement, fabrication, and construction teams.Collaborate with other discipline engineers for integrated designs.Manage design changes and technical clarifications.Technical Innovation & Continuous ImprovementImplement new technologies and engineering best practices.Guide the adoption of standards and identify opportunities for optimisation.Support R&D initiatives for energy transition and renewable projects.Mentor junior engineers and foster a high-performance culture.Lead training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.Conduct engineering risk assessments and ensure mitigation strategies.Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.Support regulatory compliance and certifications.Budget and Cost ControlEstimate engineering budgets and support bid development.Manage project budgets and variation control.Collaborate with procurement for cost-effective resource selection.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related).Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership preferred.ExperienceMinimum 10 years in engineering, preferably in offshore and energy projects.Strong EPCI project execution knowledge.Technical SkillsExpertise in energy engineering design principles, codes, and methodologies.Proficiency in engineering software (e.g. STAAD, MathCAD, Inventor, ABAQUS, AutoCAD, SIMSOLID, S-Frame).Soft SkillsProactive problem-solver with risk mitigation focus.High accountability and quality orientation.Collaborative and adaptable team player.Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering Services and Oil and GasLocationWesthill, Scotland, United Kingdom #J-18808-Ljbffr
