Overview Role: Principal Support Engineer – Technical Publications Location: Greater Bristol Area Salary: £51,000 – £61,000 (depending on experience) Security Clearance: Currently hold or are eligible to obtain SC Clearance, with a willingness to undergo DV Clearance in the future. Working Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days per week on site, with flexibility required based on project needs. On-site presence will be essential during initial training. A leading defence organisation is seeking a Principal Support Engineer to manage the production of Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs) for a major UK submarine programme. This is a key role within a wider technical publications team supporting multiple submarine classes. Responsibilities
Lead the IETP Production Team, ensuring all deliverables meet contractual requirements. Act as the primary liaison with the customer and user community. Oversee production planning, quality control, and delivery. Identify and implement process efficiency improvements.
Required Skills and Experience
Degree in engineering or equivalent industry/HM Forces experience. Experience in technical publications/support within a defence programme. Working knowledge of IETP/IETM and ASD S1000D. Familiarity with Defence Standards (Def Stan 00-60 / 00-600). Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting.
Desirable
Experience with trilogi software (trilogiBuild, trilogiView, trilogiReview). Knowledge of submarine or surface ship platforms.
