A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Principal Systems Engineers to join a department delivering expertise across the front end of the product life cycle, designing the latest complex weapons capabilities for the UK and partner nation Armed Forces in response to advanced threats across all domains (Air, Land, Sea).
This role is within the defence industry.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support projects in the early phases of the lifecycle, from concept to system architecture.
* Deliver systems engineering expertise across multi-disciplinary teams or lead individual work packages.
* Engage with stakeholders, co-ordinate technology specialists, and develop advanced engineering techniques.
* Apply requirements and use case analysis to guide system development.
* Conduct concept assessments and design trade studies.
* Undertake performance assessment and systems behaviour analysis.
* Support verification, validation, and certification activities.
* Apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE) techniques where required.
* Contribute to people management opportunities, including developing engineers of the future.
The ideal candidate would have:
* Experience across multiple stages of the systems engineering lifecycle.
* Strong background in system architecture design and functional modelling.
* Knowledge of performance assessment methodologies.
* Broader engineering management experience, such as leading work packages or managing technical relationships with suppliers/customers.
The ideal candidate must have demonstrable experience in any of the following:
* Requirements and use case analysis
* Concept assessment and design trade studies
* System architecture design and functional modelling
* Performance assessment and systems behaviour analysis
* Verification, validation, and certification
* Application of MBSE techniques
