Overview

We are seeking a Principal/Chief Engineer to join our Bridges and Civils team within our Transportation Practice UK Wide. The successful candidate will support our team on high-profile multi-disciplinary projects and frameworks in the local teams and the wider UK, including major highway and railway projects (e.g. NPR, TRU, A66, A57).

Responsibilities

• Using your people, technical and delivery skills, deliver civil and structural design packages and projects for new highway and/or rail schemes, maintenance and assessment works. Manage individual design packages and entire projects, support project resourcing and financial control to ensure schemes are delivered profitably, to programme and in accordance with Atkins' quality assurance systems.
• Have a background in civil engineering design and experience delivering single and multi-disciplinary projects within railway, nuclear, highway or local authority environments. Ideally familiar with development stages from feasibility to detailed design.

Qualifications

• Chartered status and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
• Experience working with key clients such as Highways, Network Rail, Local Authorities and/or major Contractors.
• Ability to lead and support bids and tenders, with experience of work winning and developing client relationships.
• Experience undertaking technical reviews of designs and understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. Network Rail Standards, TfL Highway, Eurocodes; AASHTO experience beneficial).
• Ability to develop and agree scopes and manage the internal technical supply chain, including budgets, programme and quality of deliverables, delivering within set time.
• Excellent project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control and ability to deliver across a range of contract types, with stakeholder management experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to converse with a wide range of clients and colleagues across engineering disciplines.
