AtkinsRéalis – Senior/Principal/Chief Geotechnical Engineer-Offshore. Location: Epsom or other UK offices (Epsom, London, Glasgow, Bristol). We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior/Principal/Chief Geotechnical Engineer-Offshore with strong technical credentials, focusing on advanced geotechnical analysis and offshore geotechnics to support increasing workload in the UK and globally.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead complex geotechnical projects with minimal supervision in offshore geotechnics and numerical modelling disciplines.
  • Contribute to technical reviews and support colleagues to enhance understanding of advanced geotechnical principles and offshore geotechnics.
  • Play a pivotal role in offshore geotechnics and numerical modelling within interdisciplinary project teams, pushing the envelope of design and modelling capability.
  • Engage in digital innovation to advance AtkinsRéalis' offshore geotechnics capabilities.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and engineers from other disciplines and produce high-quality technical reports with rigorous self-checking.
  • Travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas as required.

Requirements

The candidate should have:

  • A good academic background with a relevant degree; ideally an MSc or PhD.
  • Proven geotechnical analysis and design experience with offshore sector exposure.
  • Experience leading offshore design (monopile, jacket foundations, suction caissons), driveability, cable burial trenching, and deep-water anchoring.
  • Detailed understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, soil-structure interaction, and numerical modelling software (FLAC, PLAXIS 2D/3D, etc.) in addition to standard geotechnical software.
  • Experience validating geotechnical numerical analyses and calibrating numerical models.
  • Experience managing geotechnical numerical analysis within interdisciplinary projects.
  • A desire to drive digital innovation and advance offshore geotechnics capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas.
  • Working towards or holding Chartered status.
  • A valid UK driving licence.

Office Location

The office location can be discussed at interview, with a preference for work from Epsom, London, Glasgow or Bristol offices.

Security clearance

This role may require security clearance; offers of employment depend on obtaining the relevant level. If necessary, the vetting process is delivered by UK Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of UK residency of 5 years or longer.
