Senior/Principal Civil Engineer

Locations: Birmingham, (Hybrid working)

Salary: £45,000- £55,000

What You'll Do

• Lead civil engineering projects from feasibility through detailed design, ensuring high technical standards and timely delivery
• Produce and review technical documents—drawings, calculations, specifications, reports
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary delivery teams, including engineers and technicians
• Manage project risks across health & safety, quality, programme, and cost dimensions
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, and supply chain stakeholders
• Mentor junior staff, ensuring knowledge sharing and development
• Assist in business growth—contribute to bids, proposals, and identifying new project opportunities
• Champion best practice and innovation within civil engineering.

• What We're Looking For

  • Chartered Civil Engineer (ICE or equivalent) with substantial UK experience
  • Proven track record leading medium to large-scale civil projects
  • Strong technical foundation—roading, drainage, utilities, earthworks
  • Experienced in managing teams and mentoring junior engineers
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commercially minded—competent in fee proposals, resource planning, and budget control
  • Self-motivated and collaborative—able to work autonomously as well as part of a team
