Principle Geotechnical Engineer
New Today
This is a role for an infrastructure Geotechnical Engineer to join a client organization building the biggest High Speed Rail Project in Europe. We are looking for someone who can make independent engineering judgments on a wide scope of geotechnical projects associated with the design, build, and maintenance of a new high-speed railway project.
The scheme is the largest in Europe, encompassing the full project cycle from ground investigation to asset handback by the integrated project teams into the maintenance stage.
You will be a Chartered Engineer, possibly with a master's degree, and likely holding a Principal Engineer position in industry. You should have design experience and be technically strong; this role is not for project managers but for engineers wishing to develop their technical skills further.
The project has developed its own standards, building upon British Standards and Eurocodes such as 7. While you are not expected to have prior experience with these standards, you will require extensive civil engineering technical experience, possibly from highways or major rail projects.
The client encourages geotechnical engineers to gain site experience as the project develops. This is a central team overseeing the entire project, acting as subject matter experts for project teams, contractors, and internal clients.
Much innovation has occurred on this project, with significant research published. Your input would help shape future policies and procedures. This is a core role spanning design, construction, testing, commissioning, and maintenance stages.
If you are an accomplished principal geotechnical engineer seeking to remain technically focused, my client would be keen to speak with you. London-based engineers will be considered, with weekly travel to Birmingham.
