OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex structural projects from concept through to construction, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the ongoing technical excellence of our practice.LocationPrimarily Northampton OfficeAbout UsDSA is a leading engineering consultancy specializing in structural design, civil engineering, and project delivery for a wide range of sectors including commercial, residential, educational, healthcare, and infrastructure.We pride ourselves on delivering innovative, sustainable, and economical solutions for our clients.Our team values collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous professional development.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and delivery of structural engineering projects (squarely focusing on steel, concrete, timber, and masonry systems as appropriate).Manage project teams, including task delegation, mentorship, and performance feedback.Interface with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure design intent, budget, and schedule are met.Prepare and review calculations, drawings, specifications, and design reports.Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., British Standards, Eurocodes, building regulations & local regulations) and perform risk assessments.Perform structural analysis and modelling (e.g., Revit Structure, Tekla etc. as applicable).Conduct design reviews, value engineering, and constructability analyses.Lead quality assurance and coordination efforts across design disciplines (M&E, civil, geotechnical).Identify opportunities for innovation and sustainable design (e.g., material optimization, lifecycle assessment, resilient design).Support business development with technical proposals and client presentations.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or related field.Professional Engineer or equivalent (e.g., M.I.Struct.E, MICE etc.).8+ years of hands-on structural engineering experience with a track record of delivering complex projects.Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds & Scale).Strong knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the UK.Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.Good communication and presentation skills.Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure.What We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits package.Flexible working arrangements and a supportive, inclusive culture.Opportunity to work on iconic projects with a collaborative multidisciplinary team.Access to latest software tools and technology, with ongoing training.Why Join UsBe part of a forward-thinking practice committed to technical excellence and sustainable design.Work on challenging, high-impact projects with a team of experienced engineers.Contribute to a family type culture that values growth, collaboration, and innovation.How to ApplyTo apply for this role, please visit our careers page at dsagroup.co.uk/careers/ or send your CV and a cover letter to dsafinance@dsagroup.co.ukJob DetailsSeniority level: Mid-Senior levelEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Engineering and Information TechnologyIndustries: Civil EngineeringWe look forward to hearing from you.
