Please note : Industrial experience is essential for this position. This will ideally be in an employed position with a manufacturer or processor within the aluminium sector although we are also happy to consider people from academia who have worked on research projects in collaboration with, funded by or on behalf of industry partners.

Purpose :
You will join a world-class team providing a unique resource capable of solving the most complex of metals processing problems. You will have proven experience of working in the aluminium or a non-ferrous metals manufacturing environment. We are open to candidates with a deep understanding of one or more of the following production processes - casting, extrusion, rolling, fabrication, recycling or finishing operations. The role is based in a brand new, purpose built facility on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Sheffield but the position will entail significant overseas travel to provide high level consultancy and technical services to customers in the global aluminium industry.
The Role :
· Developing and delivering effective, customer-focused technical solutions in a timely manner
· Assisting customers with problem investigations, and then advising on solutions
· Working with customers on production and process continuous improvement programmes
· Supporting customers from an engineering and technical perspective on investment and expansion projects
About You :
· Holds a degree level qualification in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy or similar.
· Proven experience of working in the aluminium or non-ferrous manufacturing sector, either base metal production or product
· Excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact with both technical and lay audiences in person, in writing, by Teams etc
· Proven technical report writing abilities
· Analytical, able to thoroughly investigate an issue and then develop and present suitable solutions
· Able to use and understand data processing software and techniques
· Strong IT skills with MS Office
· Fluent written and spoken English skills
· Self-motivated
· Able to work both individually and part of a multi-skilled team
· Flexible to travel to customer sites when required
