Role Description
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Process/Electronics Engineer with a PCB background to improve and optimise our manufacturing operations, with a focus on both traditional automotive processes and new technologies for EV applications. The role will involve working across mechanical systems, automation, batch and chemical processes, and will be instrumental in scaling up production capabilities, introducing new equipment, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- ·Develop, configure, and optimise industrial processes from concept through to start-up and certification
- Assess production processes, conduct measurements, and interpret data to identify improvement opportunities
- Design, run, test, and upgrade mechanical and automated systems, including chemical and batch operations
- Lead process development and optimisation for EV specialty components
- Perform process simulations and feasibility assessments
- Drive capital equipment introduction, process commissioning, and handover to production
- Produce clear process documentation and operating instructions
- Use structured problem-solving methods (e.g. DMAIC, 5 Whys, Fishbone) to address quality and efficiency issues
- Champion Health & Safety policies, good housekeeping practices, and legislative compliance
- Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) by addressing downtime, performance, and quality losses
- Implement and maintain 5S methodology across production areas
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, and Design Engineering
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience in a process, production, or industrial engineering role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong background in mechanical systems, automation, and continuous improvement
- Exposure to chemical handling and batch production is desirable
- Experience in the automotive sector is essential; electric vehicle industry experience is advantageous
- Experience in printed circuit manufacturing
- Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality improvement tools
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret measurement and process data
- Highly motivated and hands-on, with a solutions-focused mindset
- Comfortable working under pressure, managing shifting priorities, and meeting tight deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible with working hours or shift times if required
- Fully PC literate, with proficiency in process data analysis and documentation tools
