My client is seeking a full-time Product Development Engineer to join their Hardware Team. The Role:
Join my client as a Product Development Engineer and play a pivotal role in advancing our product development projects which aid private organisations and governments in safeguarding their citizens.
You will become involved very early in the product development cycle in order to coordinate the physical design and build of the product, including undertaking the enclosure design in CAD ready for manufacture, liaising with electronic engineers to ensure contents’ best fit.
Then taking the product to a finished state, including labelling, accessories and presentation case with documentation.
In this full-time, on-site role, you'll be part of a collaborative and supportive team working on multiple development projects simultaneously, seeing them through to production. Your experience working in technical environments, managing project progress, launching new products to agreed deadlines, and working with a technical team to ensure that our products offer the best user experience will be instrumental in accelerating and enhancing our product development.

This is a permanent, full-time role, based in our offices in the UK near Northampton. The candidate is preferably required to hold a full driving license due to the rural location. The successful applicant will be expected to attend the office daily as this is NOT a remote role.
Some UK travel will be required on occasion (e.g. visiting suppliers), and although not a requirement in the role, there is occasionally opportunity for foreign travel.
Key Skillset and Experience:
* 5 or more years’ industry experience OR relevant degree (or equivalent level qualification) with minimum 3 years’ experience
* Experience of mechanical CAD e.g. of product enclosures (primarily for 3D printing & CNC milling)
* Demonstrate previous product development from concept through to production
* Show evidence of creating a product that gives excellent user experience
* Be self-driven and organised
* Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team with good communication skills
* Be able to demonstrate some level of technical understanding.
Additional Desirable skillset and experience:
* Previous experience in a customer-facing role
* Ability to mentor staff in product development best practice
Responsibilities:
* Participating in all technical aspects from design, development, and manufacture.
* Being hands-on with the design, build and test of products.
* CAD of mechanical aspects of products such as enclosures, internal fixings & production jigs.
* Working to deadlines and schedules.
* Ensure documentation of development and production to ensure compliance to standards such as UKCA.
* Assist with product demonstrations to customers.
* Liaising with customers for development work undertaken with them.
* Responsible for controlling personal workload and identifying any further resource need.
* Responsibility for product development including documentation of clear specifications, of test plans & strategies to ensure zero defects.
* Responsible for all post-development customer support. Including customer returns,
* NCR’s, putting in place corrective action and review.
* Regular review of projects & processes.
