JOB – Junior Product Development Engineer

LOCATION – Glasgow

TERM- Permanent

SALARY - £30,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client designs and manufactures bespoke metal and plastic products for UK and global customers. They are looking for a Product Development Engineer to join their team in Glasgow on a permanent basis.

The Product Development Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• BEng or BSc Degree qualified or similar in Product Design/Industrial Design/Mechanical Engineering or similar
• At least 2 years of experience working in a Product Development / Design Engineering role within a product development environment
• Innovative, creative and passionate about design and manufacture
• Proficient using 3D CAD - ideally Fusion 360 software but others may be considered
• Previous experience delivering projects from concept right through to manufacture
• Excellent communication skills and organisational skills
• Previous experience coaching, managing or leading others
• Strong analysis, FMEA and DFM skills
• Strong experience with Injection Moulding
• A good understanding of materials and varied manufacturing processes and principles

The Product Development Engineer role will involve:

• Leading teams focussed on the design and development of new products
• Managing and maintaining the process with improvements and new initiatives
• Reviewing, validating and delivering the full product life cycle
• Overseeing deadlines, budgets and timescales
• Providing technical expertise
• BOM management working with the company ERP system
• Always having an appreciation for CI and Lean Manufacturing
• Technically liaising with customers for R&D
