Product Engineer

New Today

About the role

As one of Warden’s first engineers, you’ll roll up your sleeves and partner directly with the founding team to design, build, and operate the core architecture of our AI Assurance platform. You’ll own end-to-end solutions, prototype new products and ship for impact. Our current tech stack includes TypeScript, Python, Vercel, PostgreSQL, and React/Next.js, but you’ll have real influence over which technologies we embrace next as we scale.

We’re a small, fast-moving team that embraces modern AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and Gemini to punch above our weight. Everyone continually find ways to improve their own and their team’s impact by adopting and sharing better tooling, workflows, and habits. Whether it’s mastering your dev environment or evangelising git best practices, we value engineers who raise the bar and help others do the same.

Beyond coding, you’ll put on a customer-centric hat, partnering closely with our Growth team to understand client challenges, spot commercial opportunities, and ensure every release delivers maximum impact. If you thrive in a startup environment, love tackling tough problems head-on, and want your work to directly shape the future of AI in HR, this is the role for you!

What you’ll do

  • End-to-end development of new product features, e.g. design and ship backend services and web dashboards to analyze large datasets of historical AI output for fairness and bias, and to explore results interactively.
  • Work directly with customers to tailor and deliver solutions, e.g. after understanding the customer’s AI System and aligning on the integration strategy, implement API connectors to push test data to the client’s system and pull evaluation results reliably on a regular cadence.
  • Automate and scale AI Assurance workflows, e.g. build a pipeline that automatically publishes new audit results on public trust dashboards and generates supporting PDF reports - instrumented with logs / metrics / alerts to detect and resolve failures proactively.
  • Prototype fast, then harden for production, e.g. partner with the data team to prototype on experimental AI explainability modules to evaluate factual accuracy, work with the customer team to iterate until there’s strong customer validation, before refactoring it into a production-grade solution.
  • Set a high bar for collaboration and communication, e.g. write concise design docs, decision records, and API references; for example, compare multiple integration approaches and present the trade-offs tailored to your audience.

What you can bring

  • A self-starting, “get-it-done” attitude. You thrive in ambiguity, stay calm under pressure, roll up your sleeves to unblock yourself or the team, and move quickly from idea to working prototype.
  • Ability to ship real-world systems. You’ve a strong track record of building, operating and iterating on production services and data pipelines end-to-end, owning everything from monitoring and alerting to performance and reliability.
  • Customer-obsessed problem solving. You listen deeply, translate needs into clear technical solutions, and balance scope with speed, always measuring success by customer impact.
  • Pragmatic trade-off decision making. You’ve been in the trenches and know when “good enough” unlocks new learning, and where to invest extra effort to create robust, maintainable solutions.
  • Effective communicator & collaborator. You are used to writing crisp design docs, effectively discussing trade-offs with both technical and non-technical audiences, and partnering seamlessly with product, data and support teams.
  • Commitment to Responsible AI. You have a keen interest in shaping how AI is built, governed, and deployed with an emphasis on fairness, transparency, and real-world impact.
