Production Engineer

My client has over 50 years’ experience in the research, design, development, production and support of Chemical, Biological Radiological and Nuclear filtration systems and Crew Cooling Units for armoured fighting vehicles and shelters within the defence industry. They are looking for a Production Engineer to optimise processes, support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure smooth handover from design to production.
Responsibilities:
* Support manufacturing of mechanical and electrical assemblies
* Act as the link between engineering design and production
* Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and quality controls
* Support New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency
* Identify and implement process improvements for quality, efficiency, and throughput
* Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
* Design or specify tooling, fixtures, and test equipment
* Provide training and technical support to production staff
* Ensure safe working practices across operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Production Engineer in a mechanical/electrical manufacturing environment
* Experience in both engineering department and hands-on production support
* Knowledge of manufacturing methods, assembly, and integration of mechanical/electrical systems
* Strong documentation and quality support skills
Desirable:
* Product/system testing experience
* Familiarity with defence sector standards
