The Role
We are seeking an adaptable Production Engineer to provide technical and production engineering support across the full product lifecycle. Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the engineering team, this is a hands-on role that covers New Product Introduction (NPI), ongoing production support, process optimisation, and supervision of quality engineering activities.
This position is ideal for an experienced Production Engineer who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced SME environment, and wants to take ownership of both process development and day-to-day production challenges.
Key Responsibilities

Support the manufacture of complex mechanical and electrical assemblies.

Act as the link between engineering design and production.
*
Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and quality controls.
*
Support New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring designs are optimised for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
*
Drive process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and throughput.
*
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in real time.
*
Specify and design tooling, fixtures, and test equipment.
*
Provide training and technical support to production staff.
*
Ensure safe working practices across all operations.
*
Oversee the work of the Quality Engineer.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
*
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
*
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Production Engineering role within a mechanical/electrical manufacturing environment.
*
Experience working at the interface between engineering design and production.
*
Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods, assembly, and integration of mechanical/electrical systems.
*
Solid documentation, process, and quality management skills.
Desirable:
*
Experience with product/system testing.
*
Familiarity with highly regulated industry standards (e.g. aerospace, defence, automotive, medical).
