About The Opportunity
Energy Programmes is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Our embedded teams are delivering support to HPC (Hinkley Point C, New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Amentum are currently recruiting a Programme Engineer. In this dynamic role, you will be involved with complex technical problem solving. You'll be working closely with a diverse network of stakeholders, tackling emerging and entrenched risks head-on, crafting frameworks and structures that pave the way for effective fit-for-purpose solutions.
Key responsibilities
- The role demands a resilient individual, with proven track record in problem-solving under pressure, navigating complex commercial & regulatory landscapes, and collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- You will be utilising your technical know-how to troubleshoot problems, assess risks, develop and implement solutions to ensure safety, compliance and operational continuity during each stage of the HPC project - from construction, through to installation, and commissioning
- Triage and assess issues, and identify fit for purpose solutions
- Act as technical liaison and collaborate with cross functional teams and senior stakeholders in ensuring alignment on priorities, risks and schedule
- Monitor and report progress to relevant committees
Qualifications
- Engineering degree, or equivalent; in a nuclear or relevant high hazard field would be desirable; understands application of safety standards in the nuclear power sector e.g. control of design & safety cases, pressure compliance, manufacturing quality assurance, etc
- Desirable technical know-how: Mechanical components (valve, pumps, etc.), structural (welding, materials, NDT; RCCM application)
- Capability to manage change in an evolving environment
- Ability to lead and co-ordinate a wide group of stakeholders using a structured approach
- Able to co-ordinate a wide variety of technical information from diverse sources and disciplines, including an understanding of UK nuclear safety cases
- Competence in quickly understanding a wide range of technical issues and make robust decisions
- Ability to motivate teams to perform to a high level
- Able to self-motivate and show initiative to complete your work
