Project Engineer

We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Engineer to join a leading marine civil engineering contractor where you will be enrolled into our professionally accredited training programme.
You will be primarily based in Ipswich, Suffolk.
Requirements:
Tender Engineering: Supporting the business development team in taking the Clients requirement and engineering them into a solution that can be costed and bid.
Pre-Construction Engineering: Converting tender concepts into reality, working collaboratively alongside our fabrication, operations and project delivery teams.
Delivery Engineering: Work in the project delivery phase developing to the level of detail needed to obtain the Client approval, procure materials, and create the technical information needed to undertake the construction, surveying and commissioning activities.
Project Management: Coordinate and manage the execution of small-medium sized projects, working closely with all the project stakeholders and the rest of the team to deliver a successful outcome.
Project Controls: Support our Commercial Team as they manage schedules, control project costs and cashflow.
Construction and Commissioning: Comply with Health and Safety processes, work on and with our plant and fleet to turn design into reality.
Reports to:
You will be involved in:
• Supporting the management of tenders and site documentation, ensuring safety, quality and Client
satisfaction.
• Outlining planning and sequencing, including writing method statements, risk assessments and lift /
passage plans.
• Working with experienced engineers to collaboratively develop solutions, undertaking stability
assessments, leg penetration and driveability analysis, and site specific assessments.
• Support the creation of design drawings and models for temporary works and sea fastening.
• Manage onsite construction works, ensuring quality and safety, and undertaking surveying
processes.
Attributes:
• Undergraduate degree – have obtained an Engineering Degree (BEng or MEng) with a Grade 2:1 or above.
• Minimum 1 years’ experience of working in marine or civil engineering environment, with on-site experience and proven competency in surveying / setting out.
• A team player, with good communication and interpersonal skills, and a self-starter with a high level of flexibility.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, with strong communication skills to people at all
levels and confident in building relationships
• Enthusiasm and ability for developing innovative solutions; You will enjoy problem solving and challenges as opportunities.
• Confident, collaborative, and able to build strong relationships at all levels.
• Experience using Eurocodes, British Standards, PIANC, DNV and other relevant design codes,
standards and guidance, preferably for temporary works.
• Understanding of compliance with relevant H&S regulations, including CDM 2015.
• IT competent in Microsoft, Autodesk and Structural Design packages
• Good attention to detail and accuracy of work
• Full UK Driving License
Desired Characteristics:
• Have an interest in the maritime industry trends, and committed to professional accreditation
• Preferably the candidate will have had some experience of supporting heavy lifting / piling
operations, and also offshore/marine engineering.
• Construction site accreditations, for example but not exclusively CSCS card, SMSTS, Temporary
Works Coordinator / Supervisor, would be beneficial but not required.
