Project Engineer – Rolling Stock Overhaul (London Underground)
* Location: Central London (with travel across the UK and abroad as needed)
* Rate: Offering between £352 - £502 p/d (Inside IR35)
* Contract: 6 months (potential to extend)
* Start Date: ASAP
* Interview: In-person at client’s central London office.
At Ceto Talent, we’re working with a key client to find a skilled Project Engineer to join their Fleet Heavy Overhaul team (Rolling Stock) within London Underground. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a technically diverse group focused on delivering safe, compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions for rolling stock overhauls.
You’ll take ownership of various engineering deliverables, either working independently or leading small teams of engineers (up to 6) as part of a wider unit of around 40.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Deliver engineering activities for the mobilisation and execution of Rolling Stock Overhauls.
* Prepare and review technical documentation.
* Apply relevant Railway Standards and safety legislation.
* Support the testing, manufacturing, and operation of rolling stock systems.
* Analyse complex data, produce reports, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
* Work closely with internal and external contacts to support project delivery.
* Use sound judgement to respond to live issues and advise on next steps.
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
* Strong understanding of general engineering principles.
* Knowledge of safety legislation and rail operating regulations (ideally with London Underground or similar environments).
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint); familiarity with MS Project and Power BI is a bonus.
Desirable:
* Experience with Rail Vehicle Systems, particularly within LU.
* Understanding of overhaul/maintenance practices.
* Familiarity with assets interfacing with Rolling Stock and systems engineering principles.
* Exposure to LU strategy, risk management, and London underground pathways.
* Awareness of contractual and procurement requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
* Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).

* Must have your own laptop and phone.
* ID required for office access.
