Project Engineer Location: Kirksanton Contract: Permanent
Position Summary We are looking for a skilled Project Engineer to manage the planning, execution, and delivery of temporary power generation projects. The role includes designing and implementing power systems, coordinating installations, ensuring compliance with standards, and providing technical support to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution:
Prepare project schedules, scope, and resource plans for temporary power generation solutions.
Design and implement power generation systems, including generator sizing, transformer selection, and MV switchgear configuration.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Equipment Management:
Coordinate the installation, commissioning, and testing of diesel generators, step-up transformers, and switchgears.
Perform technical evaluations and approve equipment such as MV transformers, RMUs, and cables.
Ensure proper earthing systems are designed and installed.
Interdepartmental Coordination:
Work closely with procurement, logistics, fleet, HSE, operations, yard, and other departments to ensure smooth project execution and operation.
Align cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and address challenges promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all activities comply with HSE standards and company policies.
Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation measures during project execution.
Stakeholder Management:
Coordinate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors for successful project delivery.
Provide technical support and regular updates to clients on project progress.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare detailed project documentation, including test reports, operational procedures, and as-built drawings.
Maintain accurate records of project activities and generate progress reports.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in temporary power generation projects.
Proven experience with MV systems, including step-up transformers and switchgears (4.16kV–33kV).
Familiarity with diesel generators and their integration into MV networks.
Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of MV switchgear operations, relay protection, and transformer design.
Proficiency in designing and interpreting SLDs and electrical schematics.
Knowledge of standards such as IEC, IEEE, and NEC.
Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
