Project Proposal Engineer role. In this position you will build technical and commercial proposals for UK Pressure Relief Valves and Regulators Business Unit clients, you will meet customer due dates, provide quality proposals and execution support post-order reducing commercial risk whilst delivering high service standards to both internal/external customers. Once an order is received it will be the project engineers responsibility to load the order within the system and provide a clean handover to the facilities and Order/Project Management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all Request for Quotation (RFQ) are logged accurately on to the sales CRM (Customer Relationship Management) System and provide feedback on quotes as required
  • Review the RFQ package to determine the best outcome for Emerson, based on customer specification, competitive situation, our capabilities, and supply chain
  • Prepare and issue enquiries to selected vendors, evaluate their proposals, and ensure that high quality, compliant proposals are prepared and submitted within agreed timescales. Immediately address bid clarification requests and revise proposal accordingly
  • Negotiate with customers and suppliers attending Bid Clarification Meeting (BCMs) where appropriate, to secure orders on the most favourable basis ensuring customer terms and conditions are addressed and Emerson’s DOA requirements are satisfied
  • Review customer Purchase Order (PO) against project quotation, and associated clarifications, for compliance both technically and commercially, address all anomalies, request customer PO amendments as required
  • Process orders in the Oracle system, ensuring accurate recording of information to enable communication of the order requirements to suppliers and colleagues in other parts of the business
  • Participate in pre-award meetings, Kick-off Meetings (KOM) and pre-inspection meetings with customers, suppliers and Project and Order Management to ensure customer and Emerson are fully engaged and aligned with project requirements
  • Provide support to Project and Order Management to ensure successful completion of the order including technical and commercial issues. Processing PO amendments, defending, and strengthening the contract at every available opportunity in respect of risk and profitability whilst respecting relationships with both external/internal customers
  • Ensure that the Project's financial objectives, determined by DOA, are met or exceeded
  • To continuously review and pursue process improvement opportunities
  • To understand Emerson’s financial objectives
  • To be a key and valuable member of the Bid Management team, providing regular and positive contributions at departmental/management meetings

Qualifications

Required

  • Qualification in an engineering discipline or relevant experience
  • Sound commercial knowledge and business acumen
  • Ability to work in a complex organisation, liaising with multiple offices and plants in order to deliver results
  • Ability to travel in order to fulfill the role requirements and customer needs at short notice

Preferred

  • A proven track record of managing major project work, including exposure to the EPC contractor community
  • Knowledge of business systems i.e. Oracle
  • Experience of selling within a multi-product line engineering business
