Job Title: QA Automation Engineer

Full Time 37.5 hours Monday to Friday, Hybrid (3/4 days in the office)

Location: Market Harborough, Leicestershire

Salary: £35,000 to £45,000 dependent on experience

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with a strong background in writing and maintaining automated tests. This role will focus primarily on writing unit tests and implementing automated UI testing using Playwright. The successful candidate will work within a Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) framework using Spec Flow, ensuring test automation aligns with business requirements. You will collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to uphold software quality and reliability through structured automated testing.

Role responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain automated tests using Playwright within a BDD framework (Spec Flow).

Write and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure software quality.

Collaborate with developers to write and improve unit tests for backend and frontend applications.

Required skills and experience:

1-2 years of hands on or recent practical exposure of automation experience.

Strong experience with Playwright for UI test automation.

Hands-on experience writing unit tests and automation tests in C#.

Proficiency in Spec Flow and BDD methodologies for test automation.

Solid understanding of software testing principles, test frameworks, and automation best practices.

Experience testing APIs using tools like Postman or Swagger.

Knowledge of Git and version control systems.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into builds.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills within an Agile team.

Preferred skills & experience:

Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.

Knowledge of security testing practices and tools like OWASP ZAP.

Understanding of mocking frameworks and dependency injection in test automation.

Experience with cloud-based testing platforms such as BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.

Previous experience conducting code reviews.
