Contract QA Engineer – Hybrid London | £350–£400/day (Outside IR35)

2–3 Month Initial Contract | Opportunity to Go Permanent

Our client is a rapidly growing, mission-driven technology startup working on a next-generation product that integrates software and hardware to address a real-world challenge. The team is multidisciplinary, the pace is fast, and the impact is tangible.

As they approach a key product milestone, they’re looking for a hands-on QA Engineer to establish robust quality practices from the ground up. You’ll be the first dedicated QA on the team, helping to bring structure, tools, and confidence to the release process — across both app and device.

Responsibilities

• Own QA from Day One – Define the testing approach, processes, and tools across the full product stack.
• Work Across Platforms – Validate a complex system that blends mobile applications with physical components.
• Create Scalable Testing Frameworks – Build out automation, regression suites, and best practices that will scale as the team grows.

About You / Qualifications

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in greenfield environments and is excited by the opportunity to lay the groundwork for quality engineering in a startup setting.

• An experienced QA or Test Engineer (3+ years) with a background in startups, R&D teams, or early-stage product environments
• Confident building QA processes from scratch, including manual and automated test strategies
• Skilled in testing mobile apps (especially iOS) and reading Swift or related codebases
• Experienced in test automation – ideally with Appium or Python-based tools
• Comfortable testing physical devices or systems with embedded components
• Collaborative, hands-on, and proactive — someone who can bring structure into an evolving environment
• Available to work on-site in London for most of the week during the contract

Bonus Experience (Not Essential)

• Testing of complex physical/digital systems or devices
• Firmware or embedded systems QA
• CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration
• Accessibility or usability testing
• Cloud platforms like AWS or GCP

The Offer
