Start Date: ASAP – September 2025. Duration: 3–6 months (with potential for long-term extension).

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support the delivery of an onshore land substation project. The successful candidate will bring strong civil engineering knowledge and a proven track record in quality assurance across the early stages of large-scale infrastructure projects.

This role is suited to a candidate with experience in high-voltage substations, offshore substations, or similarly complex multidisciplinary packages, who can take ownership of quality processes, lead assurance activities, and ensure robust project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the project Quality Management System in line with the approved Quality Plan.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the job Quality Plan.
  • Review, authorise, and maintain quality documentation required for construction work scope.
  • Coordinate and oversee QA/QC resources across the project, including EPC contractors and client personnel.
  • Provide guidance and training to QC teams to ensure alignment with project quality objectives.
  • Develop and manage a risk-based audit schedule, covering project management systems, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Review and approve contractor quality plans, ITPs, and relevant quality documentation.
  • Lead or support audits, capture non-conformances, and drive resolution through to closure.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions to improve quality outcomes.
  • Capture and share quality-related lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Manage inspection and surveillance schedules and ensure appropriate resources are in place.

Mandatory Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Quality Lead on similar packages (HV equipment, substations, offshore substations, or complex multidisciplinary works).
  • Strong quality assurance experience, particularly in early project phases (not only QC/fabrication).
  • Exposure to high-voltage equipment such as substations and transformers.
  • Experience delivering offshore projects, including loadouts, transportation, and offshore construction.
  • Experience managing supply chains and site teams (including fabrication yards).

Working Pattern

  • Role primarily home-based with travel to London offices weekly/as required (non-expensed).
  • Candidates living within commutable distance to London are preferred.
  • Site visit expenses reimbursed at cost with pre-approval.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Quality Engineer to contribute to a high-profile energy infrastructure project, with scope for long-term extension.
