Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to take ownership of the data book delivery and closeout for an oil & gas project in Chelmsford. The successful candidate will provide leadership in Quality Assurance, with a strong focus on ensuring compliance, documentation accuracy, and adherence to client requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of systems and procedures that ensure project outputs are delivered right the first time, supporting a “defect-free” project culture.
*
Manage the compilation, tracking, and client acceptance of Contract Data Books.
*
Maintain up-to-date Data Book Trackers and ensure timely submission to the client.
*
Act as the primary quality representative within the delivery team, providing guidance and leadership on quality-related matters.
*
Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and associated quality documentation.
*
Establish and manage quality assurance systems aligned with client specifications and project requirements.
*
Conduct audits to confirm compliance with established quality protocols and report findings.
*
Support project and business-level quality initiatives, including continuous improvement actions.
*
Assist site teams in effectively using quality systems and tools during delivery.
*
Engage regularly with the Project Management Team, including MGroup, Client representatives, and subcontractors.
*
Participate in site meetings and contribute to collaborative project coordination.
*
Provide weekly quality status updates and Data Book Tracker progress reports to the Quality Manager via Teams.
Required Skills and Experience
*
Recognized qualification in Quality Management (e.g. Diploma BSI, ISO, or equivalent).
*
Certified Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor.
*
Demonstrable experience managing the compilation and approval process of Data Books, including document auditing and non-conformance handling.
*
Knowledge and hands-on experience implementing QMS/BMS frameworks.
*
Proven ability to develop and implement quality-related processes and documentation.
*
Strong understanding of client expectations in multi-disciplinary engineering environments, with the ability to educate and influence project teams.
*
Comfortable working independently, including remote work as required.
*
Previous experience on construction projects within the Oil & Gas sector.
*
Working knowledge of technical activities such as welding, NDT, pressure testing, coatings/painting, and concrete works.
*
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams) and SharePoint
