Optimas is searching for a Quality Engineer to join our team at our Wynyard site. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a global organisation, working in a challenging and fast-paced environment where quality and customer focus are at the heart of what we do.

What you’ll do:

Resolve non-conformance issues with minimal disruption and cost to customers.

*

Lead product problem investigations using the 8D process, ensuring timely containment, root cause analysis, and closure.

*

Liaise directly with suppliers to ensure product concerns are promptly addressed.

*

Manage cost recovery associated with the concerns process, meeting set targets.

*

Provide on-site customer support (customer based in Northeast England).

*

Carry out quality control inspections at Goods Inwards.

*

Manage quality release activities for new or changed products.

*

Collaborate with peers and departments across the business to deliver on company objectives.

What we’re looking for:

*

A Quality, Metallurgical, or Engineering qualification (ideal but not essential).

*

Experience in a Quality or related role.

*

Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3).

*

Familiarity with Quality Management Systems.

*

Working knowledge of APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and PPAP.

*

Understanding of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing (advantageous).

*

Ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications and use measurement/test equipment.

*

Strong IT skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

*

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.

*

Automotive or fastener industry experience beneficial but not essential.
