Quality Engineer

Zenith People are working with our client who are a Manufacturer based here in the North East. They are recruiting for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer on a permanent basis.
As a Quality Assurance Supplier Quality Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting new project initiatives by ensuring supplier quality across manufacturing operations. You’ll be the key link between suppliers and internal teams, driving excellence in materials, processes, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Supplier Evaluation: Identify, assess, and qualify suppliers to ensure they meet material and quality requirements.
* Site Audits: Conduct on-site visits to supplier facilities to evaluate manufacturing practices and compliance.
* Quality Audits: Perform regular audits to verify adherence to company standards and industry regulations.
* Material Inspection: Inspect incoming goods, in-process components, and finished products to detect defects or deviations.
* Reporting & Improvement: Maintain detailed supplier quality reports and lead improvement initiatives where necessary.
* Technical Support: Provide expert guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates and enhance performance.
* Quality Planning: Develop and implement robust quality control procedures and policies.
* Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
* Data Analysis: Use statistical tools to analyze quality data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
* Product Development: Contribute to new product and process development by advising on quality specifications and validation.
* Risk Management: Conduct FMEA and risk assessments to proactively mitigate potential quality issues.
* Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into quality failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Qualifications & Experience – Essential
* Degree or HND in a relevant technical discipline.
* Proven experience in a quality engineering role within manufacturing or engineering.
* Strong grasp of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, Six Sigma, Lean, RCA).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI).
* Proficient in data interpretation and decision-making based on quantitative analysis.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
