The opportunity

At Leonardo, we have an opportunity for a Radar Reliability Engineer to join our Supportability team.

The Supportability Engineering discipline has a unique position within our business as it is involved in all the stages of a programme, from initial development, production, customer support and repairs, and eventually disposal.

This role would suit someone with a background in Electronics Design, who is looking for a new challenge. We are looking to speak to anyone with an understanding of circuit diagrams and component selection.

What You’ll Do

  • Influencing design through Reliability, Maintainability, and Testability analysis.
  • Modelling product reliability and generating Functional Block Diagrams.
  • Creating and maintaining Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA).
  • Understanding of failure detection methods including Built-In-Test (BIT).
  • Advise on and develop Reliability Growth Tests and Finite Element Analyses.

Working across the Surveillance Radar business area you will be actively involved in analysing, assessing, and influencing the supportability characteristics, supportability strategy, and performance of the next generation of Leonardo Radar products.

As a Supportability Engineer you will have the following responsibilities

  • Engaging with the Integrated Project Teams to deliver Supportability Engineering work packages in areas of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Testability.
  • Working closely with colleagues across multiple Engineering disciplines to implement reliability solutions on complex systems before they reach production.

What We Need From You

  • Experience of Electronic Product Design
  • Previous history of MIL-HDBK-217 Reliability Prediction Modelling
  • Knowledge of Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Ideally, you will have an Honours degree in engineering or a science-based discipline, and you will have worked in industry, defence, or have other relevant experience.

This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
