Radio Frequency Test Engineer
8 Days Old
Overview
At CRFS, we design and deliver world-class spectrum monitoring and geolocation systems used by defence, security, and regulatory organisations worldwide. Our systems enable full-spectrum capability in complex electromagnetic environments, and we’re growing our team to push the edge of what’s possible in RF.
We’re hiring a Systems Test Engineer to play a critical role in validating our hardware systems across lab and real-world environments. If you’re excited by RF, embedded systems, and solving tricky field problems hands-on, this could be the role for you.
Responsibilities
- Hardware Testing & Validation — Develop and execute structured test plans for complex RF systems; perform functional, performance, and stress testing using scopes, logic analyzers, and automated tools; analyse test data, raise issues, and drive resolution across teams.
- Field Testing — Set up and execute real-world tests of CRFS hardware in demanding environments; capture and interpret RF and system performance data from deployments; collaborate with software and support teams to resolve anomalies seen in field trials.
- Documentation & Reporting — Produce detailed test logs, reports, and validation evidence; communicate findings clearly to engineering stakeholders; translate specs into testable requirements and assist in system-level integration and testing, including firmware/software edge cases; help evolve testing methodologies, tooling, and automation.
- Testing Practices — Stay abreast of industry testing practices and apply them where valuable.
Qualifications
- You have a BSc (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar.
- You’ve tested complex electronic hardware before—in lab and/or field environments.
- You’re hands-on with scopes, multimeters, diagnostic tools, and test rigs.
- You understand embedded systems and how hardware/software interact.
Working at CRFS
- Work on mission-critical tech used by NATO, security agencies, and military clients.
- Collaborate with world-class engineers in a friendly, agile environment.
- Hybrid flexibility balanced with hands-on lab and field testing.
- Cambridge-based office with field work across varied locations.
- A team that values technical excellence, curiosity, and impact.
