Reactive Engineer — Permanent — Grantham — £40,000pa. We are looking for a Reactive Engineer to join our client's team in Grantham. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's largest groups and growing. You will be a hands-on engineer for maintaining and improving a wide variety of plant machinery, with a focus on reactive and planned preventive maintenance. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on, production-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reactive maintenance to ensure machinery operates at optimal performance levels.
  • Overhaul, adapt, and carry out improvements on existing machinery.
  • Mechanically biased role with some electrical work involved.
  • Replace bearings, inspect compressors, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain and repair equipment including conveyors, pipework, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding tasks.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities within the plant and suggest new methods and procedures.
  • Complete all documentation to a high standard.
  • Carry out basic facility and site service maintenance as needed.
  • Ensure effective teamwork and adopt a flexible, first-time-right approach.

Requirements

  • Qualification of Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering.
  • Mechanical knowledge such as bearings, compressors, chains, hydraulics and pneumatics is essential.
  • Ability to work at height and confined spaces.
  • Knowledge and implementation of continuous improvement.

Suitability

This role would suit someone from an aircraft mechanic, industrial scrapyard, recycling, plant machinery or FLT maintenance type of work.

Hours

This is on a rotating shift pattern 4 on 4 off. Hours are 06:00-18:00 and 18:00-06:00.
