Refrigeration Field Service and Installation Engineer We are seeking a Refrigeration Field Service and Installation Engineer to join a specialist dairy equipment manufacturer covering the Midlands, Cheshire and North Wales. This full-time, field-based role involves servicing, maintaining, and installing farm milk cooling systems, bulk tanks, ice builders, and associated equipment, while ensuring F-Gas compliance. Key Responsibilities
Carrying out service, preventative and reactive maintenance of farm milk cooling systems across Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and North Wales. Responding to tank breakdowns within service level agreements – diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical, electronic and refrigeration faults in bulk milk tanks and ice builders. Installing bulk milk tanks (1,000L to 40,000L) and ice builders (70kW to 300kW), heat recovery units, plate coolers, water heaters and condensing units. Ensuring farms meet relevant F-Gas regulations and producing F-Gas certificates. Electrical: testing components from volt-free to 415V, tracing faults through panels, programming controllers, and replacing faulty parts and motors; wiring of communication cables. Refrigeration/Mechanical: installing milk cooling and associated equipment. Brazing, soldering, and plumbing joints. Fault finding and replacing parts in a safe and secure manner; F-Gas qualified. Plumbing: fitting of cylinders, water pumps and IBC water tanks.
Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications
Strong electrical fault-finding experience on dairy, milking or refrigeration equipment in a similar role. F-Gas qualified – desirable. Confident in fault-finding, repairs, and installations. Living within the territory: Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire or North Wales. Willing to travel across the Midlands, North Wales and Cheshire. UK driving licence. Excellent communication skills.
Location
Home and field-based role – paid from door to door. West Midlands, North West and North Wales (Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire & North Wales).
Salary and Benefits
Highly competitive salary depending on experience. Overtime paid after 40 hours at 1.5x, or time off in lieu after 40 hours. On-call 1 in 3 weeks – on-call bonus. 25 days holiday after qualifying period plus bank holidays. Company pension scheme. Service vehicle. Mobile phone.
Additional Information
This is a permanent full-time position. Working hours are Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Progression opportunities to management if you see your career moving in that direction. Overnight stays for work are not usually required.
