The Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving the reliability and maintainability of equipment and processes within Elanco’s Speke facility. This role focuses on minimising downtime, optimising maintenance strategies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational efficiency and reduce costs related to equipment failures.
Responsibilities
- Support reliability improvement strategies based on data analysis, root cause analysis (RCA), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode Effect Cause Analysis (FMECA), equipment criticality matrix (ECM), CMMS, and TPM pillars.
- Develop new and review existing time-based preventive maintenance tasks to move towards proactive and predictive maintenance programs, utilising defined asset improvement processes.
- Analyse equipment performance data to identify trends, predict failures, optimise preventive maintenance schedules, and propose improvements.
- Lead RCA investigations for critical equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance technicians on reliability best practices, tools, techniques, and condition monitoring technologies, with the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of UK health and safety regulations and quality/GMP standards and compliance policies in all reliability activities.
- Collaborate with Reliability, Maintenance, Processing and Operations teams to prioritise remedial work based on data-driven insights and to assist with the planning, implementation and review of condition-based maintenance programs.
- Maintain accurate condition monitoring records and update CMMS with findings and recommended actions.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications)
- ONC or HNC or bachelor’s degree in engineering, or significant experience and knowledge in reliability techniques.
- Proven experience in reliability engineering within a manufacturing or similar environment, preferably in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or animal health industry.
- Practical understanding and application of reliability methodologies (RCA, FMECA, TPM, RCM, ECM).
- Experience with CMMS systems; SAP AM S/4HANA experience is an advantage.
- Asset Reliability Practitioner – Cat E certification.
- Health & Safety IOSH Managing Safely or Working Safely.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- CAT 1 to 3 certification in Vibration, Ultrasonics and Thermography.
Physical Demands
- Works in a dynamic environment requiring standing, walking, and reaching; able to handle materials and communicate clearly.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 kg.
- Work in both plant and office settings with regular use of PPE in specified locations within the facility.
