The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Reliability Engineer to join the Mission Systems Division (MSD), working closely with project teams to ensure products meet the stringent standards required for aerospace certification.
You'll be responsible for producing and analysing reliability documentation required for certification-critical to ensuring that equipment can safely fly. The work is highly analytical and data-driven, often involving large data sets, detailed reporting, and collaboration across design, safety, and airworthiness teams.
Projects can vary in length-from short, focused tasks to large, complex programmes that run for several months-offering variety and exposure to multiple areas of the business.
This is not a hands-on test role; it's primarily documentation and analysis focused. Candidates from design, stress analysis, or test backgrounds who are strong with data interpretation and technical reporting are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Work within project teams to produce reliability documentation required for aircraft certification. Analyse large sets of reliability data and prepare technical reports. Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and related reliability studies. Support reliability documentation through to completion before handover to the Safety and Airworthiness teams. Assist in preparing production and reliability reports. Collaborate with engineering, safety, and certification teams to maintain high reliability and compliance standards. Contribute to risk management and design-for-reliability (DfR) processes. Maintain detailed analytical oversight of failure reports and system behaviour.
About You
We're looking for someone with strong analytical capability and a solid technical foundation who enjoys working with complex data. Reliability engineering experience is not essential-training will be provided-but you must bring a technical mindset and the ability to interpret engineering data and documentation.
Essential:
Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or a related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience). 2-5 years' experience in a technical or engineering role. Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail. Ability to work with and interpret large sets of data. Comfortable reading and understanding electronic schematics or design documentation. Eligible for full UK Security Clearance (SC).Desirable:
Experience in design engineering, stress analysis, or test engineering. Experience with reliability or safety documentation in engineering environments. Familiarity with aerospace or defence standards (ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254A). Understanding of DFMEA, FRACAS, or risk management processes.
